WPBeginner Celebrates its 13th Anniversary – Reflections and Updates

Today marks the 13th anniversary of WPBeginner, which has grown into the largest free WordPress resource site for beginners since its inception when the founder was just 19 years old.

Regarding personal updates, the founder’s son is now 5.5 years old and will begin school in August. Taking advantage of their flexible schedule, they have been traveling internationally, with recent trips to the Arctic Circle in Finland and the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The founder plans to visit 8 countries this year, balancing work travel and family trips. While excited to travel again without restrictions, they also feel overwhelmed at times with business demands. Thanks to the WPBeginner community, the site has continued to experience annual growth. In addition to the excellent WordPress tutorials featured on the blog, the past year has seen significant progress, including a major milestone: WPBeginner was featured on the NASDAQ billboard in Times Square for surpassing 20 million active product installs. This accomplishment represents a major achievement for the entire team, transforming the site from a blog to a prominent international presence. Other highlights from the past year include a new website design, expanded content offerings, contributions to WordPress and Open Source, and new acquisitions and investments.

One question frequently asked via our contact form is how WPBeginner generates income while offering free WordPress tutorials. Our revenue stream is primarily indirect, stemming from our suite of premium WordPress plugins installed on over 20 million sites.
