Welcome WP Charitable to the WPBeginner family of products!

by Quartez Watson

WP Charitable is a highly rated WordPress plugin designed for fundraising and donations. It is used by over 10,000 non-profit organizations and website owners worldwide to create fundraising campaigns and collect donations online.

WP Charitable is unique among non-profit donation platforms in that it does not charge transaction fees, enabling more funds to support the cause. The plugin offers a range of features, such as customizable donation forms, one-time or recurring donation options, GDPR compliance, annual donor receipts, and gift-giving in honor of someone else. Charitable also supports multiple currencies and payment gateways, including Stripe, PayPal, and more.

Users can stay connected with their donors through email marketing integration with platforms like Mailchimp and Campaign Monitor. WP Charitable also includes custom hooks, filters, and extensive developer documentation for customization. To celebrate this achievement, WP Charitable is currently offering discounts of up to $100.

Background of WP Charitable

Every year, WPBeginner conducts a survey to gather feedback from its readers on what new tutorials to write, plugins to build, and features to add to existing plugins. Over the last three years, the number of requests for a beginner-friendly WordPress donation plugin from non-profit users has been increasing.

To address this need, WPBeginner initially created a discounted WPForms plan for non-profits to create online donation forms while also getting access to powerful form-building features. While this was appreciated by many users, some organizations still couldn’t afford the discounted plan.

Last year, WPBeginner acquired WP Simple Pay, which is a simple online payment plugin that accepts payments using Stripe, credit card, ACH, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc. Although it solved the problem for smaller non-profit organizations on a tight budget, it lacked all the other powerful features of a full donation and fundraising platform and only supported Stripe payment gateway.

After reviewing the 2022 WPBeginner reader survey results and WPForms user feedback, WPBeginner decided to build a WordPress donations plugin that’s both easy and powerful. The company considered two options: building a plugin from scratch or acquiring an existing solution in the market. Fortunately, the founders of Charitable were interested, and WP Charitable joined the Awesome Motive family of products.

Although the two co-founders will not join the team, WPBeginner was able to hire David Bisset, a highly respected and well-known WordPress developer, to lead the WP Charitable project. At Awesome Motive, the company’s mission is to help small businesses grow and compete with larger companies. Additionally, the WP Charitable plugin allows WPBeginner to use its resources to empower those who are changing the world for good.

Future plans: We have a long list of ideas and a feature roadmap based on the feedback received from WPBeginner’s audience survey. We are eager to bring these ideas to fruition and believe that they will be a game-changer. If you have any suggestions for new features for the WP Charitable plugin, please contact us through the WPBeginner contact form. Finally, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve so many great organizations and make a positive impact in our world. The impact of WP Charitable is also part of your legacy. WPBeginner and Awesome Motive are only here because of your support, and I am truly grateful for all of you.
