Background Story – Why Thrive Themes?

In 2009, when WPNewcomer was founded, the founder spent a lot of time researching and writing about WordPress plugins, themes, and tools to assist small businesses. Thrive Themes caught their attention when they created a popup plugin, Hybrid Connect, in 2012. WPBeginner followed Thrive Themes’ journey as they launched multiple products and rebranded over the last 8 years. Both companies are friendly competitors with a common goal of aiding small businesses.

WordPress is an open-source platform with fair competition, known as co-opetition. Thrive Themes and WPNewcomer have similarities in some of their products but also have unique differences in their offerings. Thrive has a quiz builder, an engaging comments plugin, and an A/B testing solution, while WPNewcomer has AIOSEO, WPForms, and MonsterInsights.

Shane, Thrive Themes’ co-founder, reached out to WPNewcomer to sell his business, and WPNewcomer agreed due to their familiarity with Thrive Suite and respect for what Shane and Paul had built. The entire Thrive Themes team, except for the co-founders, will join Awesome Motive and be led by Brad Stevens, the current General Manager of Thrive Themes.

What’s Coming Next?

WPNewcomerr plans to improve Thrive Suite plugins based on customer feedback and ideas, and they are particularly interested in the quiz builder, which they believe can be a game changer.
